Description
  • Courage Center is a nationally-known, not-for-profit rehabilitation and resource center for people with physical disabilities, brain injuries, speech or vision impairments, or hearing loss.

The mission of Courage Center is to empower people with physical disabilities to reach for their full potential in every aspect of life. We are guided by the vision that one day, all people will live, work, learn and play in a community based on abilities, not disabilities.

For more than 75 years, Courage has provided services and advocacy aimed at increasing opportunities for people with disabilities to lead healthy, independent, productive and empowered lives within their communities.

Established in 1928 as the Minnesota Association for Crippled Children, Courage offers comprehensive services to people of all ages, serving more than 16,000 people with disabilities each year.

Courage’s comprehensive services include physical rehabilitation, wellness and fitness, aquatics, mental health and family support services, vocational training, driver assessment and training, community living skills and assistive technology, camping and recreational programs among others.

To ensure our services meet all current government regulations and standards, Courage participates in nearly 50 certifications, licenses and accreditations.

Courage Residence, a 64-bed transitional rehabilitation facility is a unique short-term solution for individuals with spinal cord injuries, brain injuries, stroke or congenital disabilities. During a typical six- to nine- month stay, participants learn independent living skills designed to help them transition back into in the community.
