Description

• The mission of the National Organization on Disability (N.O.D.) is to expand the participation and contribution of America’s 54 million men, women and children with disabilities in all aspects of life. By raising disability awareness through programs and information, together we can work toward closing the participation gaps.

  Community Involvement: Social Participation
  People with disabilities spend significantly less time outside the home, socializing and going out, than people without disabilities. They tend to feel more isolated, and participate in fewer community activities than their non-disabled counterparts. The National Organization on Disability (N.O.D.) administers several programs to address these participation gaps and work with community leaders to remove barriers of attitude, architecture, and communication.
