The Coordinator of Interdisciplinary Pre-service Education is responsible for all aspects of the pre-service interdisciplinary education component of the Institute on Human Development and Disability (IHDD). He/she reports to the Director of the Institute. Specifically, he/she will:

  • Coordinate the undergraduate and graduate Interdisciplinary Disability Studies Certificate programs in collaboration with IHDD faculty.
  • Develop and teach IHDD university courses at both the undergraduate and graduate level (4 courses per year).
  • Supervise practicum, internship, and independent study students. Develop opportunities for students to participate in internships, assistantships and practica consistent with the mission of IHDD and identified training needs.
  • Plan, implement, and continually update a comprehensive Interdisciplinary Pre-service Education Plan for IHDD.
  • Chair the Interdisciplinary Education Committee ofthe IHDD, which has responsibility for overseeing the planning and implementation of all IHDD Interdisciplinary Education activities.
  • Build cooperative and collaborative relationships with IHDD faculty and work with faculty from across campus to recruit students from diverse educational, socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds.
  • Oversee planning, implementation, and evaluation ofthe IHDD Core Curriculum.
  • Coordinate the collection ofinterdisciplinary training data to meet the requirements of ADD and AUCD.
  • Evaluate the interdisciplinary education component ofthe IHDD, including ongoing evaluation oftrainee satisfaction, progress toward objectives, and long-term trainee follow-up.
  • Submit proposals to secure funding for special initiatives and projects relevant to the mission of IHDD.
  • Write papers relating to topics in the disabilities field, including special projects and initiatives of the IHDD, and submit those papers for consideration for publication in professional journals.
  • Assist the Director in assuring continued compliance with IHDD program criteria in the area of interdisciplinary pre-service training.
