The University of Alabama at Birmingham seeks applications and nominations to occupy a new endowed Lakeshore Foundation Chair in the School of Health Professions. The Endowed Chair, who will also serve as Director of Research with the Lakeshore Foundation, will be responsible for research and research leadership in applied rehabilitation science, including the evaluation of existing program effects, the development and evaluation of new programmatic and service efforts, the development and validation of new supportive technologies and coordinating the efforts of other researchers in their attempts to identify and/or develop meaningful alternatives that improve life for people who have or will face chronic disabling conditions. Lakeshore and UAB desire to collaborate and jointly develop a world class research program in rehabilitative science, which will evaluate Lakeshore�s program effectiveness as well as identify, develop, validate and apply new services and technologies that have a positive impact on people�s lives.

The successful candidate should be internationally recognized as a leader with demonstrated success in research in rehabilitation sciences or a related area. The content of research should be relevant to facilitating the vision and mission of the Lakeshore Foundation/UAB Collaborative. Additionally, the successful candidate should be eligible for appointment to a tenured position at entry according to school guidelines, should provide evidence of successful continued records of publication and extramural support in an area related to rehabilitation sciences, and should have previous experience leading team structured research efforts. The candidate will be expected to provide inspired leadership to develop and implement a growing research program and to contribute to the programmatic excellence in the School of Health Professions and Lakeshore Foundation. This is a tenured position with rank and salary commensurate with the candidate�s qualifications.
