The Game

The team:
Teams consist of 12 players. Only four players from each team are allowed on the court during play, with the remaining players on the sidelines as substitutes. The classification totals of all individuals on the court cannot exceed 8 points.

Playing the game:

  • The object of the game is to score more goals than the opposing team by advancing the ball down the court to the opponents' goal line. The offense has control of the ball and attempts to score, while the defense attempts to take control of the ball away from the opposing team and keep that team from scoring.
  • The ball can be played using the hands or forearms, or carried in the lap. However, at least 75% of the ball must be visible when carried on the lap. The ball must be dribbled at least once every 10 seconds a player has possession. The number of pushes and other chair movements between each dribble is not limited. The ball may also be advanced by passing it between team members.
  • Each game is started with a tip-off in center circle. After tip-off, possession for out-of-bounds and held ball situations is alternated between the two teams. Throw-ins are used to put the ball back into play after any stoppage of play.
  • Teams play four 8-minute periods, with rest breaks at the end of each period. Overtime periods, if necessary, are played for 3 minutes with a 1-minute break between each period, until a winner is declared.

Scoring a goal:
A goal is scored when a player carrying a ball crosses over the opponents' goal line with two wheels. After a goal is scored, a throw-in is used from any point on the end line to put the ball back into play.
