Family Services Community Grants, Autism Speaks Deadline: March 28, 2008

Autism Speaks invites grant applications which promote services that will enhance the lives of those affected by autism spectrum disorders. Recognizing that there are multiple needs in this expansive and varied community, the focus of these grants will be on proposals that serve to build the field of services for individuals with autism and expand the capacity to effectively serve this growing community. Autism Speaks will accept family services community grant proposals in the following areas of need: education; recreation/community activities; equipment/supportive technology; and young adult/adult services.

Rehabilitation Research and Training Centers (RRTCs) Health and Function Across the Lifespan of Individuals With Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, U.S. Department of Education Deadline: April 1, 2008

The purpose of the RRTC program is to improve the effectiveness of services authorized under the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as amended, through advanced research, training, technical assistance, and dissemination activities in general problem areas, as specified by NIDRR. Such activities are designed to benefit rehabilitation service providers, individuals with disabilities, and the family members or other authorized representatives of individuals with disabilities.

Rehabilitation Engineering Research Center (RERC) for Wheeled Mobility, U.S. Department of Education Deadline: April 1, 2008

The purpose of the RERC program is to improve the effectiveness of services authorized under the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as amended, by conducting advanced engineering research and development on innovative technologies that are designed to solve particular rehabilitation problems, or remove environmental barriers. RERCs also demonstrate and evaluate such technologies, facilitate service delivery system changes, stimulate the production and distribution of new technologies and equipment in the private sector, and provide training opportunities.


Physical Activity for People with Disabilities Information Resource Center Grant, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Deadline: April 28, 2008

The mission of this center will be to provide information, technical assistance, and consultation on physical activity, exercise, and health promotion practices targeting persons with disabilities, caregivers, media, researchers, disability service organizations, community groups, service providers, policymakers and the public. It includes addressing the prevention of secondary conditions in persons who have a disability by promoting and assessing the benefits of physical activity and exercise, reducing the risk for associated adverse health, and promoting environmental and policy access to physical activity and recreational facilities and services. This program addresses the "Healthy People 2010" focus area(s) of Disability and Secondary Conditions and Physical Activity and Fitness.

Elimination of Health Disparities through Translation Research (R18), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Deadline: May 2, 2008

This funding opportunity encourages applicants to submit research grant applications that accelerate the translation of research findings into public health practice through implementation, dissemination, and diffusion research within health disparity populations and to contribute to achieving the health promotion and disease prevention objectives of "Healthy People 2010."
