Starting in January 2007, the RWJF will introduce a new way of accepting ideas from the field for several interest areas. By December 31, 2006, send unsolicited brief proposals in the following areas: Addiction Prevention & Treatment, Childhood Obesity, Disparities, Health Insurance Coverage, Nursing, Public Health, Quality or Tobacco. Unsolicited brief proposals will continue to be solicited for Building Human Capital, Pioneer, and Vulnerable Populations through the remainder of 2006 and after January 1, 2007.

Cooperative Agreement for a National Research and Training Organization for People with Developmental and Other Disabilities
The purpose of this program is to strengthen the nation’s capacity to carry out public health activities in the areas of birth defects, developmental disabilities, and disability and health. The objectives are to: (1) facilitate research in birth defects and developmental disabilities; (2) promote the health and well-being of people with disabilities; (3) encourage cooperative research focusing on population-based data sets; and (4) train public health professionals to strengthen the nation’s expertise in the fields of birth defects, developmental disabilities, and children and adults with disabilities.

NIH Long-Term Weight Maintenance: Basic and Clinical Studies Modification 2
Applications investigating mechanisms underlying weight stability and/or weight regain after intentional weight loss, as well as clinical studies investigating the role of behavioral, nutritional, exercise, or other interventions in enhancing long-term weight maintenance will be supported. Collaborations between basic and clinical researchers are particularly encouraged. This FOA will utilize the Exploratory/Developmental (R21) grant mechanisms and runs in parallel with a funding opportunity of identical scientific scope (PA-06-145) that will utilize the traditional research project grant (R01).
