Specific areas that public accommodations are required to make accessible include buildings; public transportation systems; washrooms; parking areas; routes to and from a facility; entrances; paths to goods, services, and programs; facilities accommodations; and work areas.
In addition, new construction must meet accessibility standards. Criteria for new construction requires it to be readily achievable, does not cause a direct threat to that person or others, does not fundamentally alter the goods, services, facility or is an undue burden. Facilities considered public accommodations might comply with the law by using auxiliary aids and services, removing barriers, and modifying of policies, practices, or procedures.
