Strength Training Segment


Strength training is an important component of any exercise program. Exercises in this segment are performed using an elastic resistance band, elastic tubing, or free weights. The viewer is provided with information on the appropriate use and care of the elastic resistance band or tubing. Information on other available exercise equipment and equipment adaptations are also provided.

An explanation of different strength training guidelines and definitions of commonly-used exercise terms are included in this segment. As each exercise is presented, the viewer is first shown which muscles are being used or strengthened. An exercise demonstration follows, complete with a step-by-step explanation on how to do the exercise correctly and safely. For some of the exercises in this segment, an alternative exercise option is provided.
