In the field of cancer survivorship and exercise, future research is needed to determine the “safety and efficacy of alternate exercise programs such as yoga, Pilates, Curves™, and organized sports.”² In breast cancer survivors, yoga is determined safe as long as arm and shoulder morbidities are taken into consideration.² In colon cancer survivors with an ostomy, modifications will be needed for swimming or contact sports.² Research gaps are also present in determining issues of safety, cost effectiveness, and cost savings for health care utilization in managing persistent late effects.² Prediagnosis factors such as age, gender, comorbidity, and fitness levels and their impact on exercise in cancer survivors needs further explanation through future research.
