Participants
Ninety-three people with definite RA involving their lower limbs for 2 years or more participated in the study. Forty-seven participants received rehabilitation and 46 were randomized into a control group. In addition, 25 age-related healthy participants with no history of serious limb injuries and no unstable medical conditions were placed in a comparative group. Participants were excluded if they had an acute exacerbation of their disease, had an unstable coexisting major medical problem, had started taking slow-acting drugs or systemic steroids within the past 3 months, used daily prednisolone >10mg, or were wheelchair users.
