Precautions and Contraindications
It is important for individuals with arthritis to consult with doctors and other health professionals to insure they know of potential side effects associated with physical activity and medications they are taking and/or other conditions they have.
There are also equipment, preparation, and cooldown considerations that may benefit individuals with arthritis. Appropriate footwear and assistive devices such as orthotics may help further lessen impact and lessen post-exercise soreness. Additionally, proper post-exercise use of either heat or ice may provide relief to joints and muscles and minimize soreness.
