Notes

The Austine Green Mountain Lions Camp will once again provide a wonderful summer program for children who are deaf and hard of hearing and their siblings.

A one week day camp is available for children, 3-5 years. Children ages 6-9 come for one week sleep over camp, 10-13 and 14-18 stay for two weeks. Our camp has a pavilion for arts and crafts and performances, cabins for sleeping, and a camp fire for evening fun.

Literacy and art classes enable campers to design and edit their own newsletter, make camp journals, and have time for story telling. Outdoor activities and cooperative games will be a part of every day. There will be adventure initiatives that encourage communication, team work and allow children to become more self-reliant. For the older Campers, ropes course activities will be included.

The Lions Clubs will provide unforgettable experiences such as:

  • a hot air balloon ride
  • a fishing derby
  • a trip to the Montshire Science Museum
  • All-State Soccer Tournament
  • and eating their wonderful BBQ

Extended Year Program (EYP):
During the summer months, some students experience significant regression in the basic skill areas. An EYP is necessary to maintain these students' skills. The Austine Green Mountain Lions Camp is approved by the State Department of Education as an option for meeting students' EYP goals. Please contact your Local Education Agency (LEA) for further information about adding summer camp to your child's IEP.
