Notes

Therapeutic Recreation Services (TRS) summer programs are designed to provide individuals with the opportunity to engage in a variety of structured and free choice activities and emphasizes the development of leisure skills. Activities offered include: sports, fitness, crafts, games, music, story-telling, and special events. Community outings are offered throughout the program including picnics, swimming, museums, dining establishments, and special community events. Participants are responsible for all cost associated with the field trip activities.

Activities are selected that provide opportunities for the individual to:
  • increase or maintain their physical fitness
  • learn new leisure skills (specific to activities of interest)
  • socialize and interact with peers
  • select personal leisure choices
  • self-initiate play
A staff to participant ratio of 1:4 is maintained to provide supervision and support to participants within a recreation environment. Accommodations are provided and include additional assistance from staff, modifications of the activities, adapted equipment, and other reasonable accommodations. TRS is unable to provide one on one supervision, however, every effort will be made to meet each participant's needs.
