Every summer since 1990, youngsters who are patients at the Shriners Hospital in Cincinnati have the opportunity to spend a week at Camp Ability, a special residential camp near Dayton, Ohio.
Camp Ability is designed to enrich a child's physical, social and psychological growth, and the children have an opportunity to experience all the activities of a regular camp � such as swimming, horseback riding, canoeing, games and cook-outs. The most visible difference at Camp Ability is that here, every camper is recovering from a severe burn � and no child feels "different" from other children because of his scars.
The camp is operated and planned by staff members from the Shriners Hospital in Cincinnati, but Shrine Temples (chapters) from throughout the east, midwest and south contribute to its success by sponsoring campers.
