Notes

Camp UKANDU is a planned outrageously fun camping experience for young people who are living with cancer. It gives these kids an opportunity to play outdoors, explore their talents, socialize with other kids, and receive the advocacy they need to feel safe, secure, and very happy. Activities include: art, weaving, rowing, canoeing, swimming, archery, field games, the climbing wall, campfire, and fishing. Special days include: beach days, a themed dance each week, and carnival day. These special days and activities can change without notice, usually becoming bigger and better. There are usually around 125 campers and 70 staff members. It is usually the most fun week any participant has during the year, staff included. A full-time medical staff of pediatric oncologists and oncology nurses is at camp to monitor health and activities, including chemotherapy and IV antibiotics. The site is located at Camp Magruder in Rockaway Beach, north of Tillamook on the Oregon coast.
