Notes

Camp Allen is a non-profit summer camp for children and adults with special physical and developmental needs. Camp Allen's mission is to provide a summer camping opportunities for children, adults, and families with physical or developmental disabilities.

Camp Allen believes that individuals with disabilities have the right to access recreational opportunities designed to meet their needs as they focus on their abilities, not their disabilities.

Camp Allen does this by providing:
  • An opportunity for individuals with disabilities to vacation in an environment adapted to their needs, with trained and qualified staff to assist them in social, recreational, and daily living activities.
  • A therapeutic environment where campers can improve previously developed skills and have the opportunity to develop new ones.
  • Quality personal care in a residential setting giving other caregivers a rest from providing care at home day in and day out.
Campers can enjoy learning new skills, making friends and feeling pride for their accomplishments in:
  • Aquatics
  • Gardening
  • Arts
  • Tent Camping
  • Crafts
  • Field Trips
  • Physical Recreation
  • Nature
  • Theater & Puppetry
Camp Allen serves 500 individuals each summer who range in age from 6 to senior. There are 5 one-week sessions and 3 two-week sessions with a maximum of 65 campers per session. Camp Allen also provides day camping experiences for children and young adults. This is a nice alternative for those not yet ready for overnight camp.
