Confidence Learning Center is different as our Campers come to Confidence Learning Center WITH their primary care provider - they are not BROUGHT. We feel this provides a great learning and growing opportunity for everyone!

The Steps To Self-Confidence

Confidence Learning Center is much more than a camp. It is a place where people who are entrusted with the care and treatment of people with developmental disabilities bring, not send, their patients, students and loved ones. They stay with the camper and serve as "care-giver". It is an outdoor experience with no central dining hall. Meals are prepared at campsites or in cabins by the camper. Confidence Learning Center provides the site, the equipment and facilities, the professional program staff and the opportunity. The campers, with the help of their counselors or families, are encouraged to do most things for themselves. The role of the professional camp staff is to assist and instruct the campers, with the help of their guardians, do most things for themselves and to provide guidance and encouragement. They modify and adapt a wide variety of outdoor educational activities to the level of the participants. Campers not only experience nature, but they learn to "do things for themselves." With proper guidance, they cook, sleep in tents, make their beds, canoe, water ski, climb, cross country and downhill ski, and enjoy dozens of other experiences which build self-confidence and self-esteem; experiences which otherwise might be denied them. While the campers are learning, so too are the family members who bring them, the professionals, and the college interns in our extensive internship program.
