Notes

A one-week residential camp for children with cancer aged 7 to 18 and their siblings. Offered free of charge.

Camp Hope is located in North Scituate on the grounds of Camp Aldersgate, offering children with cancer and their siblings an opportunity to enjoy the great outdoors while also providing the necessary medical oversight. "Our camp is just like any camp. It's about everyone enjoying themselves and getting a break from the routine of doctors, hospital visits, and illness," says Melissa Campbell, camp coordinator. "Camp Hope is about fun and being with friends and siblings."

In November of last year, Camp Hope received a perfect score in its regular accreditation process by the American Camping Association. Camp staff is made up of volunteer nurses, medical personnel, and counselors, who are supported by a volunteer camp committee.

When it opened in 1986, Camp Hope had 19 campers. Last year, more than 60 children attended. Camp is free of charge, thanks to charitable contributions.

Camp Hope is also in the process of seeking qualified lifeguards and volunteer counselors ages 21 and up.

Activities include: Arts/Crafts, Canoeing, Drawing/Painting, Field Trips, General Program, Recreational Swimming, Team Building Initiatives
