Notes

The S.K.O.R. (Special Kids Organized Recreation) and S.O.A.R. (Special Organized Adult Recreation) programs provide high quality services for individuals with intellectual, physical and/or emotional disabilities. Active involvement and support provides opportunities to increase appropriate social peer interaction, builds self-esteem, promotes physical fitness, teamwork, respect, and most of allis just plain fun!

The S.K.O.R. program offers a variety of sport, instructional, and social programs that are designed to meet the individual needs of each participant between the ages of 5 and 21.

  • S.K.O.R. Sport Programs
These are leagues that meet on a weekly basis and provide different levels of instruction. Teams are put together by age and ability level to the best of our ability. Participants will go over the skills and rules, from the very basics to more in depth instruction, as well as participating in non-competitive scrimmages each week.

The S.K.O.R. program offers the following Sport Programs for ages 5 - 21:

    • Basketball (January - March)
      Fee: $25.00 per member
    • Soccer (September - November)
      Fee: $25.00 per member
    • Track & Field (April - June)
      Fee: $25.00 per member

Participants, ages 8 and up, will also have the option to compete in a more competitive league by signing up for one of our Travel Teams that participate in Special Olympics New Jersey sport competitions. We offer travel teams in the following sports: Basketball, Softball, Golf, Track and Field, and Bocce. Although there is no charge for each travel team, all participants must have, at minimum, a program membership.

  • Instructional Programs
These Instructional programs provide a more individualized instruction. These programs focus on personal goals and individual achievement through classes designed and tailored for each member registered. Parental assistance may be requested for some classes.

  • Miracle League of Mercer County
Spring season opening day is Saturday, April 18th!
Play, Volunteer, Donate! The Miracle League is a 100% barrier free baseball field that will provide the opportunity for individuals with disabilities to participate in Americas favorite pastime. Every individual deserves a chance to play baseball; and now with the Miracle Field, all it takes to play is heart. For additional information, contact Kathy Rhead or visit the Miracle League website at www.miracleleaguemercer.org.

Miracle League runs two seasons annually:
    Spring season (April - May)
    Fall season (September - October)

Participation in any of the Hamilton Area YMCA S.K.O.R./S.O.A.R. programs are open to anyone. Individuals do not have to live in Hamilton Township to participate. Participants must have a valid Hamilton Area YMCA Membership. The YMCA does not turn anyone away based on his/her ability to pay for membership and/or programming. Financial assistance is available; see the membership portion of this website for more information.
