Staff Training and Certification

Notes

Adaptive Recreation (AR) Summer Day Camp offers a traditional camp experience for children who generally benefit from extra support as they strive for daily success within school, leisure, and community settings. AR Summer Camp staff have experience working with children who diverse disabilities. All staff are trained by the Adaptive Recreation Program's full-time staff and specialty professionals to ensure that all campers enjoy a safe, fun and memorable summer. AR Summer Camp is Virginia State Licensed day care programs and maintains the high standards set by state licensing requirements.

Camp Room Descriptions
Camp rooms include, but are not limited to, the following diagnoses:

  • Group 1: Brain Injury, Cerebral Palsy, Developmental Disabilities, Learning Disabilities, Intellectual Disability, Physical Disabilities with cognitive delay
  • Group 2: Pervasive Development Disorders (Autism, Asperger's, Rhett's)
  • Group 3: Attention Deficit/Hyperactive Disorder, Emotional Disorders, Oppositional/Defiant Disorder, Mood Disorders
  • Group 4: Severe & Profound Disabilities

Camp Room Descriptions

  • Mini-Adventurers: Ages 2-5; Varied Diagnoses (BI, CP, DD, LD, MR, physical, Autism/PDD, etc.)
  • Explorers: Ages 6-12; Group 2 (PDD: Autism, Asperger's, PDD)
  • Rangers 1: Ages 6-9; Group 1 (BI, CP, DD, LD, MR, physical disabilities with cognitive delay)
  • Rangers 2: Ages 10-12; Group 1 (BI, CP, DD, LD, MR, physical disabilities with cognitive delay)
  • Buccaneers 1: Ages 6-9; Group 3 (ADD/ADHD, ED, ODD, MD)
  • Buccaneers 2: Ages 10-12; Group 3 (ADD/ADHD, ED, ODD, MD)
  • Adventurers 1: Ages 13-21, Group 1-Skill level 1 (Autism, BI, CP, DD, LD, MR, physical disabilities)
  • Adventurers 2: Ages 13-21, Group 1-Skill level 2 (Autism, BI, CP, DD, LD, MR, physical disabilities)
