About My name is Diane. I am 72 years old. I worked full time my whole life as a school teacher and nurse by retired when I was 62 beacause of a series of events taht affected my mobility. I had a right hip replacement in 2014 after I developed sepsis from a steroid injection. After surgery I developed strong pains in the top of my feet and both ankles. I also suffered from horrible debilitating leg spasms on nearly a daily basis over the last 5 years that made sleeping and sitting very difficult. Over the past 5 years I have been treated for rheumatoid arthritis, psorioatric arthritis and regulare arthritis which was ineffective. I was finally diagnosed with multiple sclerosis early last year. I take injections 3 x a week and my leg spasms have greatly subsided but I still deal daily with numbness, chronic pain, interrmittent spasms and balance issues. I work in my garden about 4 hours a day and take daily walks of about 5,000 -10,000 steps using a walker to prevent falls. I am 5 '4'' and 205 lbs. I have gained 20 lbs in the last 5 years and I am very disappointed in my inability to control my weight. The corona virus has made me very anxious and I am an anxiety eater.

Welcome to NCPAD's 14-Week Program to a Healthier You!

What is the program?

  • Description: A free, personalized, web-based physical activity and nutrition program
  • Target Audience: People with mobility limitations, chronic health conditions and physical disabilities
  • Goal: To help you get moving and making healthy nutrition choices
  • Duration: 14 weeks

How does it work?

  • You register for the program and tell us a little about yourself.
  • We take the information you gave us and, to the best of our abilities, provide you with personalized resources and exercises that meet your individual needs over the course of 14 weeks.
  • Because there is new material each week that builds on the previous weeks, the program works best if you visit at least once a week.
