About My name is Meira and I love doing Chen style Taiji (aka Tai Chi). I was born with Spina Bifida in 1970 and grew up at the beach bodyboarding and skateboarding. I balanced on the skateboard with my legs and pushed with my crutches. I currently live in Kansas City, MO but my goal is to move home to the beach within the next year. My family is going on a cruise to the western Caribbean in September, and I need to get into shape so we can tour the Mayan pyramids together. I currently do Taiji twice a week, but my doctor says I need to exercise more. As a side effect of more exercise and better nutrition, I hope to lower my weight and cholesterol without needing medications. Lots of good things to come. Let's do this!

Welcome to NCPAD's 14-Week Program to a Healthier You!

What is the program?

  • Description: A free, personalized, web-based physical activity and nutrition program
  • Target Audience: People with mobility limitations, chronic health conditions and physical disabilities
  • Goal: To help you get moving and making healthy nutrition choices
  • Duration: 14 weeks

How does it work?

  • You register for the program and tell us a little about yourself.
  • We take the information you gave us and, to the best of our abilities, provide you with personalized resources and exercises that meet your individual needs over the course of 14 weeks.
  • Because there is new material each week that builds on the previous weeks, the program works best if you visit at least once a week.
