About My name is Kristin and I was an active exerciser for many years. 3 years ago I had an SCI, and after 2 surgeries and recovery, I am living with Central Cord Syndrome which has affected the strength and sensation in my upper body, arms and shoulders. I also live with chronic pain and fatigue. I have been able to continue my lower body workout program without changes, but I am struggling to find a "happy medium" for upper body exercise to build some strength without exacerbating pain and spasticity. I am also very interested in finding some effective core strengthening exercises that don't require doing sit-ups or planks. My goal is to learn to do safe, effective exercise, return to a healthy diet, lose the 20 pounds I have put on since the SCI, and overcome the depression and fatigue that have developed since my injury.

Welcome to NCPAD's 14-Week Program to a Healthier You!

What is the program?

  • Description: A free, personalized, web-based physical activity and nutrition program
  • Target Audience: People with mobility limitations, chronic health conditions and physical disabilities
  • Goal: To help you get moving and making healthy nutrition choices
  • Duration: 14 weeks

How does it work?

  • You register for the program and tell us a little about yourself.
  • We take the information you gave us and, to the best of our abilities, provide you with personalized resources and exercises that meet your individual needs over the course of 14 weeks.
  • Because there is new material each week that builds on the previous weeks, the program works best if you visit at least once a week.
