About My name is Liz and I've always been more comfortable indoors. Although I live down the shore, I'm not really a beach person, I don't usually go when everyone else does. I love to read and work on the computer. Now due to a sedintary lifestyle and some mental illness (depression and anxiety) I've gained much weight and cannot stand or walk for any significant amount of time/distance. I would like to be able to go walking again without a cane or walker (as I use to but more so). I can't bear to think that I have to live this way for the rest of my life as I'm only 53. I have some herniated discs in my lower back and have a hard time standing straight. Haven't seen an orthopedist since I discovered my difficulty walking and standing. Also, I think I have copd, and I quit smoking some time ago. For exercize I would be interested in swimming (indoors) and exersize machines.

Welcome to NCPAD's 14-Week Program to a Healthier You!

What is the program?

  • Description: A free, personalized, web-based physical activity and nutrition program
  • Target Audience: People with mobility limitations, chronic health conditions and physical disabilities
  • Goal: To help you get moving and making healthy nutrition choices
  • Duration: 14 weeks

How does it work?

  • You register for the program and tell us a little about yourself.
  • We take the information you gave us and, to the best of our abilities, provide you with personalized resources and exercises that meet your individual needs over the course of 14 weeks.
  • Because there is new material each week that builds on the previous weeks, the program works best if you visit at least once a week.
