With the new recommendations from the 2015-2020 Dietary Guidelines for Americans, a guide created for the public that encourages healthy behavior and eating habits, several chronic diseases become preventable when the guidelines are taken into consideration.  Healthy eating is one of the most powerful tools we have to reduce the onset of disease.  Type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, obesity, and other chronic diseases can be avoided by following these guidelines.  With new tips coming out every five years, this latest edition discusses three ways Americans can make better decisions about healthy eating: following a long-term healthy eating pattern, figuring out which changes to make towards a healthy eating plan, and supporting healthy choices in the community.  Here is a summary of the most updated recommendations for 2015-2020 to guide you to your healthiest you.
