Every Body Walk! Collaborative

America Walks is excited to announce the release of our latest report, "Walking as a Practice." This report, along with individual case studies, outlines four categories that identify how individuals and organizations across America are engaging in the practice of walking. Written and researched by Jonathon Stalls of Walk2Connect and edited by Ian Thomas, the report looks at the power that comes when we choose to walk.

Enjoy and please feel free to share with your networks: bit.ly/1U9jAnU.

This month's Every Body Walk! Collaborative theme is Walk for Your Health. The lead partners are ACSM, Kaiser and Walk2Connect. Please use the hashtag #walkforhealth

Walking is great for stress reduction and your physical, mental and cognitive health.  Instead of overhauling everything on January 1, make a resolution to take regular walks. Work with your community and neighborhood to encourage others to get walking and stay healthy.

New Dietary Guidelines Support Healthy Choices for All Americans

The release of the 2015-2020 Dietary Guidelines for Americans addresses a lifetime of healthy eating to help prevent chronic diseases like obesity, heart disease, high blood pressure, and Type 2 diabetes. The Dietary Guidelines provides a clear path for the general public, as well as policy makers and health professionals and others who reach the public, to help Americans make healthy choices, informed by a thoughtful, critical, and transparent review of the scientific evidence on nutrition.  Obesity and other chronic diseases come not only with increased health risks, but also at a high cost. Healthy eating is one of the most powerful tools we have to reduce the onset of disease.  The latest edition of the Dietary Guidelines focuses on three main takeaways to help Americans make decisions about healthy eating.
