Highlights, Outreach, and Future Opportunities


Denver Bronco player with NSCD participantIncredibly, the NSCD is able to secure 85 percent of its annual funding through philanthropic gifts, grants, and sponsorships. This allows it to offer a wide variety of membership and participation packages, pro bono activities and events, and scholarships to participants. The organizations is continually finding new ways and sources to continue and increase program funding to the benefit of its participants, staff, and programs.

The NSCD has and continues to have a growing impact locally, nationally, and globally. It has hosted individual and group participants from all over the country and globe. Further, it has both hosted and been hosted by other organizations from around the nation and globe to provide seminars and trainings on the NSCD’s best practices, to help spread its reach and benefit as far as possible.

2 denver broncos cheerleaders with 2 NSCD participantsWhile the NSCD boasts several highlights, staff cite the biggest as coming from the individuals they work with and, specifically, the pre- and post-program reactions of participants as they realize, through therapeutic recreation, what they are truly capable of achieving, regardless of their ability levels.

This Community Spotlight has featured only the briefest of insights into all that the National Sports Center for the Disabled has to offer.
