Contact a health physician before starting an exercise program or if a change in medicines during the course of an exercise program. If a patient experiences severe fatigue, it is best to take a break from the exercise program. Some signs and symptoms to watch for while exercising are:
- Nausea
- Dizziness
- Weakness
- Shortness of breath
- Pain
- Irregular heart beat
If a patient experiences any of these symptoms, the workout program should stop. Then when resuming exercise, it is best to do so at a lower level. Patients should learn how to balance activities with rest. When it is cold, hot, or humid outside, patients have to avoid doing activities or exercises outside. Also, avoid taking cold or hot showers after exercising. Avoid pushing motions, sit ups, isometric exercises, heavy lifting or walking up hills unless told by a doctor.
