Notes

Children with epilepsy — like all children — need to experience and enjoy outdoor recreation. The EFWCP sponsors a weeklong, overnight summer camping program called Camp Frog. This nationally recognized activity allows kids with epilepsy/seizure disorders to be integrated into a typical camping experience with hundreds of other children. The overnight program is available to boys and girls with epilepsy/seizure disorders from grades 4 to 11. Campers enjoy a host of activities, such as arts and crafts, campfire sing-alongs, swimming, team games, sailing, archery, and horseback riding. Camp Frog held each year at Camp Fitch on beautiful Lake Erie.

Camp staffs include EFWCP counselors, with additional support from Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh medical staff. All camp staff members receive specialized training in seizure recognition and first-aid training. Medical staff includes a licensed pediatric neurologist and a registered nurse practitioner. Scholarships and financial assistance are available to eligible campers.

Camp Frog is a nationally recognized program for children who have epilepsy or a seizure disorder. In addition to having medical supervision around the clock for the entire week of camp, the EFWCP provides additional counselors for each of the camper groups that include children who experience seizures. These counselors, along with the entire Camp Fitch staff, receive special seizure recognition and first aid training to ensure the safety of all campers.

Other activities available at camp include archery, horse back riding, a four-story climbing tower, sand volleyball, basketball, soccer, hiking, fishing, camp fires, late night talks with friends, and much, much more. So kids, pack your camping gear and join us at Camp Frog! We promise a great week of new friendships, games and fun.
