Notes

Yoga in Chairs is designed for people of all physical abilities to enjoy the benefits of yoga. Participants will learn the basic techniques of yoga including proper breathing, alignment, and poses for strength, flexibility, and relaxation. Traditional yoga poses will be modified so participants can experience them while standing, sitting in a chair or on the floor. Some benefits of yoga include: increased cognition, increased body awareness and coordination, improved balance, increased flexibility and strength, diminished fatigue, improved circulation and breathing, enhanced alertness, stress-reduction, and an overall feeling of well-being. Mats and chairs will be provided. Please wear comfortable clothing, do not eat anything for an hour or two before class, turn off cell phone ringers, bring a water bottle, a pillow or blanket to sit on, and anything else needed for your comfort. Caregivers are welcome to participate.

Classes are free and supported by the Center for People with Disabilities and the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation.

Yoga in Chairs is taught by Francesca Nicosia, Certified Yoga Teacher. She is certified to teach classical hatha yoga, chair yoga, yoga for Multiple Sclerosis, and has experience teaching people with a wide variety of disabilities.
