Low-Carbing the Holidays

Holidays and family gatherings can often be challenging when sticking to healthy food trends.  The low-carb diet is a popular eating plan that seems to work well for many individuals, especially persons with disability.  Managing weight for any ability is particularly important for preventing chronic diseases and weight-related health complications.   By eliminating the carb-heavy added sugars and concentrated sweets in the diet, many have seen quick weight loss.  Better yet, those who have consistently stuck to a low-carb diet have successfully kept off the pounds.

When planning this year’s holiday feast, you can modify almost any menu to obtain fewer carbohydrates just from tweaking the recipes.  Consider your traditional “must-have” foods at the table, and then think about which ingredients can be altered to create a lower-carb version.  A few low-carb tips may be helpful for planning meals.
