About Hi, My name is Shirley. I loved going to the Y. I loved being able to do the elipical machine and the stationery bike. I was born with very flat feet and bad ankles, so I tried to using machinery that wouldn't put strain on my ankles and feet, I also had a bike (which was stolen). Then I was diagnosed with degenerative disks, needed surgery. Since I have had the surgery, I have been advised not to go to the gym because I have a couple more disks that are having issues. I have tried walking, I actually got up to 15 minutes, but my feet were always numb. I brought special sneakers which I wear everyday, not the pretty ones either, but my feet hurt less at the end of the day. I am joining to get motivated again.

Welcome to NCPAD's 14-Week Program to a Healthier You!

What is the program?

  • Description: A free, personalized, web-based physical activity and nutrition program
  • Target Audience: People with mobility limitations, chronic health conditions and physical disabilities
  • Goal: To help you get moving and making healthy nutrition choices
  • Duration: 14 weeks

How does it work?

  • You register for the program and tell us a little about yourself.
  • We take the information you gave us and, to the best of our abilities, provide you with personalized resources and exercises that meet your individual needs over the course of 14 weeks.
  • Because there is new material each week that builds on the previous weeks, the program works best if you visit at least once a week.
