About My name is Steven and I love to be active. I grew up in Colorado Springs, Colorado. I started long distance running around 20 years old. I played high school basketball and briefly played in college basketball. My greatest accomplishment was completing in a half marathon up Pikes Peak, 14,112 feet to the summit. I did that in 1988. Three years later I was diagnosed with MS. I continued to run long distances for many years after being diagnosed. I accepted a job transfer in 1996 to Newport News, VA. I was doing fine until 1996 when I had a severe flare up. My left leg started to drag and running and jogging became strenuous. However, over the course of time I was still doing fairly ok. The flare ups started coming back and eventually, I could no longer run outdoors. Now I just do the treadmill in doors. In 2013 I was diagnosed with, secondary progressive MS. I currently use a walker if I'm going to walk or stand for any length of time. My left side is weaker than my right side but I manage to do most activities. I'm excited about taking the 14 week challenge and learning ways to become healthier and improve my nutritional habits. I will also, be reporting back to my MS support group on my progress.
