Senior Corner: The Importance of Physical Activity for Individuals with Arthritis
Arthritis consists of several different conditions that affect various joints and is the most common disability in the United States, with osteoarthritis being the most common form. As outlined in this month's Senior Corner, physical activity and a targeted exercise program can provide a tremendous range of benefits for individuals with arthritis, such as relieving joint pain and improving joint flexibility, strength, and function.

In children with disabilities, these conditions may pose even more potential threats, such as stifilng childrens' independence. Nutrition Spotlight: Nutrition After Spinal Cord Injury
A spinal cord injury (SCI) can lead to serveral drastic changes in physical and functional abilities. Following an SCI, strict attention should also be paid to diet, as the types of nutrients consumed can impact growth, repair, and maintenance, which is of maximal importance as the body tries to heal from and adapt to the injury.
